Kim Meeks is originally from Montreal, Canada and took the stage for the first time at 16 years old. From that point on it was full steam ahead as she quickly dove head first into a deep desire to perform rock and blues with a notable strength in her voice that had many comment that “she sings from her toes”.
At 46 years old, Kim discovered an opportunity to try out Austin. She was instantly excited about this opportunity as it was the home of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Austin City Limits. She arrived just before the end of 2009 and by February of 2010 she was performing shows with excitement and a little nervousness since there was a lot to live up to in this new city. New doors kept opening for her and she quickly was given the title of Queen of the Blues and/or The Queen of Soul by her new following. Kim attributes this kind title to the fact that even when she’s singing the blues, it’s coming from a base of pure rock.
Kim love’s that she’s able to live in the Austin area being a full-time musician. She’s played many great venues and played with many of Austin’s finest musicians and has no plans of slowing down as she’s always looking forward to where this path will lead her.
Her heart and voice are filled with soul, strength and passion. Many have said that Kim defines the difference between listening to live music to feeling the live music. She has a rasp and a smooth silkiness to her tone that seems to keep folks coming back for more and keeps her fanbase growing.
